INDIA – KALARIPPAYATTU

The Kalarippayattu is the most ancient Indian martial art. It appears more than 4000 years ago in the current State of Kerala. The technique consists in creating very difficult figures giving great importance to both legs, knees and arms movements and to the hands and eyes strength. The techniques include weaponless fights, the use of knives, swords, shields, and both big and small sticks. The Kalari is known as “the mother of all the martial arts”, from karate to kungfu, from shaolin wushu to tai chi quan. The performance will include two blindfolded persons involved in acrobatic fights with and without weapons.

INDIA – JAIPUR KAWA BRASS BAND

Extraordinary gipsy brass band from the Rajasthan’city Jaipur at the Pakistan borders where traditions are still deeply rooted. The best music of its kind in India, has inherited the sound from different military English bands landed in that country during the past colonization. The brass are accompanied by formidable percussionists giving birth to a both itinerant and on stage performance of extraordinary vitality, made up of sounds and colors, often integrated by a dancer, a magician and everything seems useful to produce a stupefying performance.
