INDIA – KALARIPPAYATTU

The Kalarippayattu is the most ancient Indian martial art. It appears more than 4000 years ago in the current State of Kerala. The technique consists in creating very difficult figures giving great importance to both legs, knees and arms movements and to the hands and eyes strength. The techniques include weaponless fights, the use of knives, swords, shields, and both big and small sticks. The Kalari is known as “the mother of all the martial arts”, from karate to kungfu, from shaolin wushu to tai chi quan. The performance will include two blindfolded persons involved in acrobatic fights with and without weapons.

ROYAL BANQUET AT THE COURT OF BIANCA CAPELLO “The enchantress of Venice”
Grand Ball in historical costume of the 16th century at Palazzo Albrizzi. Gourmet gala dinner and shows, with the artistic direction by Nevia Capello, president of Acit (Italian-German cultural Association). The programme:
Ballet scenes from “Romeo and Juliet” with the Dance Academy of Venice, choreographer Clara Santoni.
Special appearance of the soprano Marina Bolgan, who will enchant the audience with Arie by authors of the 15th and 16th century.
The musical jewel of the evening will be the performance of the “Suite” from the Ballet “Romeo and Juliet” by Sergej Prokofiev: with the prestigious Russian pianist Natalia Morazowa and the viola player Benjamin Bernstein.
Grand Ball: Sarabande, “Carole” and other dances of the 16th century guided by the Maitre de danse Clara Santoni, will introduce the guests in the atmosphere of the nobile mansion of Bianca Capello. Palazzo Albrizzi is one of the most fabulous palace built by the Capello family in Venice in the 16th century.
The loveliest costume will receive a prize!

Great Ball of the XVIIIth Century for the opening of Carnival at Ca’Zanardi. Special guests: the “Godmothers” of Carnival and the “Seven Maries”(the most beautiful girls of the Venitian sestieri, elected during the historical ceremony directed by Bruno Tosi). As usual, the guests will enjoy the exceptional presence of masked celebrities.
The Ball begins at 9.00 p.m with an elegant welcome cocktail, goes on with a seated buffet dinner enlivened by the performance of a baroque quartet and a soprano who will play pieces of the most famous Venitian authors from the XVIIIth century like B. Marcello, A. Lotti , B. Galuppi or A. Vivaldi, and dancers in historical costumes who will perform Menuets, Gavottes, Gigas or Sarabands and entertain the guests…After dinner, the party will go on with a great ball of modern music.

BOLLYWOOD LOVE

The BBB is a brass wedding band. 10 musicians play saxophones, trumpets, trombones, dhol, dholak, tabla, snare & bass drums while 4 dancers perform. Their good reputation on the “world music” scene gave them the opportunity to perform as guests on the stage of WOMAD, and to be the pre-eminent band of the colourful Indian marriages in London. Apart from the wedding songs, their repertoire includes classical and new hit films, Indian popular music from the region of Punjabi and songs by the great qawwali musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. A unique band that plays the hits of Indian cinematography, Bhangra rhythms and brass band arrangements with jazz influences, world music and bhangra dance. The result is an enthralling and original Asian Beat style. The band is formed by the most versatile musicians of the London scene who collaborate with groups such as Trans-global Underground, Fun^Da^Mental and Ministry of Dhol. The Bollywood Brass Band will present a very dynamic performance, wearing beautiful costumes and accompanying the music with movements, dance steps and video projections of Indian dances excerpted by the best Indian films and perfectly in sync with the live music.
